Low Porosity Hair
Low Porosity hair does not easily allow moisture in or out. Hair strands have a tightly bound cuticle layer with overlapping scales and hair is more prone to product build up. Hair may feel dry.
Medium Porosity Hair
Hair allows the right amount of moisture in and out. This hair Porosity needs the least amount of maintenance, holds style better and does not usually suffer from dryness.
High Porosity Hair
Hair is usually damaged by chemicals like color, heat, or relaxers. Cuticles are open and have gaps that make it easier to absorb moisture. But moisture leaves out just as easily. Hair is more prone to frizz and sealants are a must along with heavier products. Also using cold water to seal cuticles after product application.
